Whats on in July
Half-way through the year, July falls right in the middle of the birding “off-season” with hardly a migrant in sight. With several states still under travel restrictions, birders may not be able to venture out much. But thankfully, birds are everywhere and you don’t have to go too far! Look out of your window and you are most likely to see a bird preening or foraging. A small shower followed by sunshine and you can see them taking a bath. If you are an early riser you may hear the songs of Asian Koel or the Oriental Magpie Robin.
eBird Media
Do consider adding media (photos and audio recordings) from your archives to your eBird checklists. So far, more than 7 lakh media has been uploaded on eBird/ Macaulay Library from India!
eBird Mobile Explore -New way of exploring hotspots near you
The eBird Mobile Explore feature was introduced in June 2020. This is an interesting way to find out what hotspots are closer to you or those that you haven’t visited recently. To know more about this feature, see here

Update on ‘My eBird’ pages
With the new update on ‘My eBird’ page, you can easily summarise your bird observations and organise your checklists, locations. Under ‘My eBird’ click on the Life List to see the when and where was your sighting of that species. You can also filter your list for a specific location or a time period. See here to know more.
