This month’s eBirder of the Month challenge, sponsored by Carl Zeiss Sports Optics, is all about birding on October Big Day. Join thousands of people from around the world to celebrate birds with observations in eBird. The eBirder of the month will be drawn from eBirders who submit five (5) or more eligible checklists on 14 OctoberLast year set a record for the biggest day in October birding history, with over 37,000 participants from 195 countries. What will we accomplish together this year?

By taking part in October Big Day you’re also celebrating Global Bird Weekend and World Migratory Bird Day. It doesn’t matter where you are or how many species you find—every eBird checklist submitted on October 14 counts towards the results. Of course, if you want a chance to win the eBirder of the Month Challenge and new ZEISS optics, submit at least five eligible checklists!

The winner will receive a new ZEISS DTI 1* thermal imaging camera and will be notified by the 10th of the following month. Each month we will feature a new eBird challenge and set of selection criteria. And don’t forget to submit lists for the 2023 Checklist-a-day Challenge!* Due to international shipping restrictions, winners outside the US or Canada will receive a ZEISS SFL 8×40 binocular.
