What's on in November

November has arrived, and with it, more birds and more birding opportunities for you! Wintering birds such as European Starlings, Greylag and Bar-headed Geese, Red-crested Pochard, Amur Falcons, and a slew of other species visit India’s different habitats and regions during the winter months.

It’s always a good idea to brush up on the more difficult-to-understand species of the area before venturing out. The articles on species identification published by Bird Count India are a valuable resource for any birders who are having difficulty identifying waders, pipits, warblers, and other species.

Events

Like last year, this year too the Sálim Ali Bird Count- a birding event initiated by the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) will be celebrated from 5-12 Nov to coincide with Maharashtra’s Pakshi Saptah. See here for more details.

Birding Challenges

This month’s eBird challenge is designed to highlight The Sálim Ali Bird Count event! The challenge is to upload 1 checklist every day in November. In addition to this, between 5- 12 November, upload at least 2 lists a day. Details of the challenge can be seen here.
