Checklist Comments

Seabirding pelagic trip aboard the Stormy Petrel II, from the shelf break offshore to about 700 fathoms (4,200 feet) and back to the shelf break. We also saw 2 Sperm Whales on this leg. There were really flocks of feeding shearwaters offshore today and we were able to go from flock to flock looking for anything different! Fish, mostly small tunas, were driving bait fish and flying fishes to the surface and the shearwaters were taking advantage of this. It was what we hope to see in the summer months and we were not disappointed with thousands of shearwaters tallied! The tropical terns are just starting to show up so it was nice to see both Sooty and Bridled Terns out there as well.
