   One male seen regularly on Lake Kikila from August 29th to September 12th. Observed mating with a Pacific Black Duck.

   Population on Lake Kikila. Highest count of 31 on September 2nd.

3. Crimson-crowned Fruit-Dove

   Number observed:  1

   Details

   Common on the main island though less visable than the Pacific Imperial Pigeon. Easily found in thickets, forest edges.

4. Pacific Imperial-Pigeon

   Number observed:  1

   Details

   Common on the main island, also seen on Nukuatea islet

5. Long-tailed Koel

   Number observed:  1

   Details

   8 sightings, 4 on Nukuatea islet, 1 on Faioa Islet, 1 on Nukuhone islets, 2 on Uvea (main island). More common than I expected.

6. Buff-banded Rail

   Common on the main island and also on islets e.g. Faioa and Nukuatea.

   Common on the main island.

8. Pacific Golden-Plover

   Details

   Common on the main island and on beaches of islets e.g. Nukuatea. During a walk along the east coast from Eglise St Paul & Pierre south for 2 hours 14 PGP were recorded. At Lake Alofivai on September 3rd 20 were recorded.

9. Masked Lapwing (Black-shouldered)

   1 adult seen regularly on Lake Alofivai from August 15th to September 12th

    Details

    Common on the reef - e.g. during a walk on the East coast from Eglise St Paul & Pierre south for 2 hours, 24 wandering tattler were recorded.

    Common on the reef, beaches and short turf. Seen regularly at Lakes Kikila and Alofivai.At Lake Alofivai on September 3rd 31 were recorded. During a 2 hour walk on the east coast from Eglise St Paul and Pierre on 28th August 12 were recorded

    Numbers geneally low but a large flock of 1000+ seen offshore one day

17. Tahiti Petrel

    Details

    Heard calling during night work on Nukuatea on several dates. August 9th, 20th and 25th. Call is a highly distinctive rising cry, that breaks into a high trembling note then falls off. I know this call from time spent in the Gambier Islands.
