Details
Bird was heard calling in private property immediately to the west of the Grand Staircase Inn for 5 minutes until I had to leave. The bird was giving the distinctive wit-weet of western Curve-billed Thrashers but stayed hidden the whole time. Calls were separate and not the part of larger phrases, ruling out Northern Mockingbird. The exact location of the bird was: 37.569028, -112.055772.
- My recording
- Curve-billed Thrasher recording from Peterson site (https://academy.allaboutbirds.org/peterson-field-guide-to-bird-sounds/?speciesCode=cubthr2&species=Curve-billed%20Thrasher%20(palmeri%20Group)%20-%20Toxostoma%20curvirostre%20[palmeri%20Group])
The spectrogram matches Curve-billed Thrasher as seen below with lower down-curved first not and rising second note.
I am submitting a record to the URBC.
