This month’s eBirder of the Month challenge, sponsored by Carl Zeiss Sports Optics, is all about participating in October Big Day! This month Zeiss has generously doubled the prizes available to help celebrate October Big Day. TWO eBirders of the Month will be drawn from eBirders who submit 5 eligible checklists on 17 October—October Big Day. Winners will each receive a pair of new ZEISS Victory SF32 binoculars.
On October Big Day 2019, more than 20,000 participants submitted 42,700 checklists. Join us on 17 October as we try to set a new record for 25,000 participants. It doesn’t matter where you are or how many species you report – every eBird checklist counts. So have fun, stay safe, enjoy the birds you find, and share your observations on eBird.
By submitting eBird checklists on October Big Day you’ll also be taking part in Global Bird Weekend, a two-day event to appreciate birds. Whether you participate on October Big Day or the entire Global Bird Weekend anyone can be part of our October eBirder of the Month Challenge!
Winners will be notified by the 10th of the following month. Each month we will feature a new eBird challenge and set of selection criteria. And don’t forget about the 2020 Checklist-a-day Challenge!
