Costa del Maule North
The coast of the Maule Region can be divided into three zones. The first is circumscribed around Reloca River mouth, south of the Maule river. The other two, north of it, is first divided into a group of coastal lagoons in the northern end of the region, which are included Lake Vichuquén, Laguna Torca, Agua Dulce and Laguna Lagua The Coipos. Finally, the third zone, and perhaps most important about the diversity of bird life (as well as the number of specimens), corresponds to a stretch of more than 40 kilometers between the rivers Maule and Mataquito, predominantly in the large dunes and coastal wetlands.

Within this set of wetlands, dunes and river mouths have been able to record more than 130 species of birds, from migratory residents wandering and many other endemic or associated with remnants of today.
