   Details

   Rare, potential first Kings County sighting. First seen swimming between pier 1 pilings after sunset. Smaller than ring-billed gulls. Faded hood only reaching the crown. Blackish bill, difficult to tell its true color, heavier than a typical BHGU’s. Glaucous mantle. Dark primaries with small white spots, pale at the base à la RBGU. Relocated on pilings later.
