Details
This is an interesting bird, not classically a typical GTTA that we see in the winter months. It was trying to get to the habitat restoration area on the south end of the pond - it was repeatedly chased out of their by two WATA onto the reef flats (which is where we first saw it). During the time that we were there the bird was chased back and forth between the two areas by a total of three WATA - unusually the GTTA vocalized almost non-stop the entire time. I am very familiar with this species from work in central and southern Pacific as well as Australia, and eastern Asia - the bird made every call that I have ever heard from a GTTA, and never once made a WATA call.
