"The bird was observed here for about an hour and images were obtained from different angles. The bird had a brown head, upper mantle and breast; the wings were completely blue, except for the buff-tipped greater secondary coverts, which identifies it clearly as a first-winter male (Plate 2). Presently it is not possible to distinguish Blue-and-white Flycatcher C. cyanomelana from Zappey’s Flycatcher in immature male plumages unless the distinctive blue or blue-green colouration across the breast."
