Details
First observed at a distance but then flew high and over me. Second bird appeared and distinguished from the first bird by misplaced primary feather in left wing. Half the size of an attacking RTHA. Pointed wing “hand” — dark border from tip of wing edging all through tips of secondaries. Tail banding observed in both birds, but banding more pronounced on 2nd bird. Tail banding almost nonexistent on 1st bird when viewed at a distance and banking showing top side of rectrices. Distinguished from RSHA by shorter wings and pointed hands. No crescent windows observed on either bird, but visible windows were at least squarish. Both birds had solidly dark upperparts, with one bird having more golden wash on upper wing coverts. Both birds not acting like migrants and the juvenile type bird observed stooping and disappearing into forest cover on at least two occassions.
