Details
I am unfamiliar with this bird, and it was relatively plain. I hope I got the identification right. Even familiar sandpipers were once unfamiliar to me, so I thought I should try to figure this one out. Among observations were the dull yellow legs, plain gray back, and light gray tail. This seemed to eliminate all possibilities except the Red Knot. I managed to take pictures. The second picture includes the Black-bellied Plovers. In case it's too hard to tell, the Red Know is at the bottom. These two species were together at the South Beach the whole time I saw them, including the loss of visual as the flew over the Salish Sea. One more thing. I should probably repeat the warning I provided with the initial Black-bellied Plover sighting. The tides are tricky here, and you need to know the tide tables if you want to check out the South Beach. I would estimate the cutoff point to be around six-foot tides, but it's best to aim for lower.

Details
Two more (and a bonus sandpiper... more on that later) joined the two I reported on Thursday. They were still on the South Beach. I had my camera with me. Although I didn't get a very good picture, it's at least an upgrade. I last saw them flying out across the water. I did not see them turn around for a return.
