    Details

    Attached is a picture of what is (I'm pretty sure) a juvenile semipalmated plover with a brownish cast to flight feathers and back but what appears to be an all-black bill and incomplete breastband. Close inspection of one photo shows just a hint of red coming in at the lower base of this beak. Foraging above the wrack line like a piping plover, but the semi-pals were also spending some time there today because it was a high and roiling tide. I was fooled by how pale this bird looked to the naked eye in full sunlight when first seen.
