Details
A serendipitous find while running along the Monon! Seen at 39.8050296, -86.1389145 at 11:17am. Foraging in grass with AMROs, flushed as I ran by showing off its distinctive white outer tail feathers and perched on fence along the trail allowing for great looks. Unfortunately I didn’t have my phone on me so I didn’t get any photos or recordings. Unique body shape for a sparrow: large, long neck, long tail. Striking face pattern, and with the sun shining on him the rufous really popped. Small bold black spot on plain chest. Did not sing, but made a sharp, high call, presumably an alarm call.
