Checklist Comments

With two Myrtle Warbler present within less than 700m of one another I couldn't resist trying to see both birds today. I parked in Bigton and walked down the hill to see the 'second' bird discovered earlier today before driving around to see the 'first' bird found yesterday. The second bird showed well while the first bird was more elusive. As I was watching the 'first' bird news broke of a possible Least Bittern at Scousborough Beach and so I made a rapid dash to this bird.

    Details

Amazingly two birds present within less than 700m of each other. One bird was found on 5th October at Ellister and the second was found earlier today in a small pine plantation at the Burn of Ireland by the same birder! The second bird was perhaps a little brighter than the first with more yellow on the side of the breast but perhaps a duller and less extensive yellow rump. I spent around an hour with the second bird today and then perhaps 10-15 minutes at the first bird before news of a Least Bittern broke.
