2022 Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival

Registration is OPEN for the 30th Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival in 2022! This annual event put on by The Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges and the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge will take place May 4th-8th, 2022 in Homer, AK. This is Alaska’s largest wildlife viewing festival and honors the return of shorebirds to the productive Kachemak Bay where they stop and refuel during their northbound journey to their breeding grounds. The festival headquarters is at the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.

This year’s festival will be a combination of in-person and virtual events that can be enjoyed from anywhere in the world. The full event schedule and program include guided wildlife, bird, and natural history tours, junior birder events, and excellent presentations by two Hannah Clipp and Joel Such (Schantz Scholars) and Alaska Audubon.
