Identification

Rare migrant or vagrant, mainly in late autumn, from nesting grounds in Siberia. Found in wooded and scrubby habitats, where usually rather active; sometimes hovers to pick bugs from leaf tips. Slightly smaller than a chiffchaff, with brighter greenish upperparts, whiter underparts, distinct pale yellowish eyebrow, and distinct pale wingbars (upper wingbar short and less distinct). Call a distinctive, 2-syllable, upslurred "tsu-weet."
