Identification
A small, terrestrial wren of lowland and foothill rainforest. It is brown with a big white stripe on each wing and a gray throat and breast. In the eastern part of its range, birds are also finely scaled underneath. Wing stripe may be reduced or lacking on juveniles. Typically found alone, scurrying along the forest floor but occasionally perching a bit higher to perform its memorable song, a fast-paced series of clear, ringing whistles.
