Shy antpitta of lowland rainforest in eastern Ecuador, northeastern Peru, and southern Colombia. Note the gray head, white spots on both sides of the eye and on the neck, and buffy breast and sides with dark streaking. Similar to Amazonian Antpitta, but White-lored has a gray head and is not known to overlap in range. Inhabits dense rainforest understory, especially in swampy areas, and can be frustratingly difficult to spot. Usually stays on the ground, but may sing from a slightly elevated perch where it can be a little easier to see. Song is a slow, evenly-spaced series of three to six hollow-sounding hoots.
