Rare and poorly known. A fairly small swift, all black with variable white patch on chest. Tail is square or just slightly notched. Much smaller and more compact than White-collared Swift. Singles or small groups can be seen in mountainous areas or over adjacent lowlands, often mixing with other species of swifts, especially Chestnut-collared and Spot-fronted.
