Male unmistakable, mostly green with a conspicuous white or yellowish chest band, a maroon belly patch, and a red forehead. Female uniform bright green with a yellow line between bill and eye. Bill pale yellow in both sexes. Juvenile greener, with yellow edges to feathers on wings and underparts. Found singly or in pairs in forested lowlands and hills. Yellow bill and facial line in female distinguishes female from female Superb, Black-naped, and other fruit-doves. The species gives a deep “hooO” call note, singly or in a quickly accelerating series that falls off at the end.
