Identification

Tiny, unique songbird with a sharply pointed bill. Plain gray body and yellow head. Rufous patch on shoulders is sometimes visible. Juveniles lack the yellow head, but note sharp-tipped bill. Forages solo or in pairs in scrubby arid habitats. Occasionally visits feeders for nectar; primarily feeds on insects.
