Identification
A fairly small bird of treelined, rocky streams from the foothills to the mountains. White underparts, face and forehead, black wings, tail and back of the head, and gray back with paler rump. Sits on rocks or branches over a stream from where it makes sallies for insects. Found in the same habitat as Torrent-lark, but Torrent Flycatcher is smaller, and lacks the black back and face. Voice, a high-pitched, piping song or harsh rasping call.
