Identification

Small finchlike species with a short and stubby bill. Males are gray above and tawny below with a tawny rump. Females are olive-brown above and buff below. Both sexes have a small white spot on the wing. Occurs in tall grasslands, often near marshes and in humid areas where it is often seen in flocks with others seedeaters.
