Reunion Harrier Circus maillardi

Lanky raptor endemic to the island of Réunion, where it is the only resident bird of prey. Adult male is striking, with a black hood and sharply contrasting black “fingertips.” Female is warm brown overall, with blotchily streaked underparts. Patrols the airspace over both forested and more open areas, flying with wings held in an open “V” shape.
