Identification

ALIMENTÉ PAR MERLIN

A large, common pigeon of lowland and hill forest canopy. Pale gray head, back and chest. Bare red skin around the eye and a thin white band across the tail. Often seen flying over the canopy or perched out in groups on exposed branches. Often co-occurs with Zoe’s Imperial-Pigeon, but Pinon’s lacks the pale eye and chest band. The common call is a low but far-carrying “woo-wup wooo!” with the first notes upslurred and the last note longer and lower.
