Identification
Dark, long-winged, elegant bird that is halfway between a tern and a shorebird in shape. Nests along rocky rivers and coastlines, and sometimes sits in open fields. Spends much of its time feeding on aerial insects on the wing, and can be seen flying almost anywhere, often in small flocks. Pratincoles have a distinctive shape, and Madagascar Pratincole is darker than all other pratincoles within its range.
