Strictly coastal. Darker overall than other gulls. Adults are all gray with white head and red bill. Immatures are dusky-brown overall with pinkish bill. Migrates north from breeding grounds in Mexico to coastal regions of California, Oregon, and Washington in summer (after breeding).
