A large pigeon with a gray head and underside, except for a rufous undertail. Note the wide, pale gray bar on the tail. Upperparts are largely green with a purplish-bronze shawl. This color extends onto the mantle in males only. Pairs or small groups inhabit the upper levels of forest and forest edge in the foothills and especially in the mountains. Gray tail band and bronzy nape patch separate this species from the similar Sulawesi form of Green Imperial-Pigeon. Gray-headed’s vocalizations are yet to be confirmed.
