Rare, threatened antbird with a very small range in the Andes of southwestern Ecuador and northwestern Peru. Plumage is gray with a brown back and belly, white wingbars, and white tips to the tail feathers. Male has a darker breast than female. It inhabits bamboo patches in the forest understory. Song is a very fast, descending trill, like the sound made by running a finger over a comb.
