Identification
An active yellow warbler-like tanager with a gray cap and olive green back. Sexes similar. Found in large groups, pairs, and mixed species flocks, carefully examining foliage and branches while foraging at all levels of forest, most often at low levels with bamboo. Common in wet forest at high elevations in Andes. Like other hemispingus species, very vocal while foraging and moving. No other tanager or warbler is yellow with a distinct gray cap. Endemic to the Andes of Venezuela.
