Identification
A small dark finch of high mountain forests. Male is glossy black with a bright yellow nape. Female is brown overall with a pale yellow suffusion to the back of the head and black wing tips. Usually forages in small to medium-sized flocks; often associating with other species in mixed-feeding flocks.
