Introduced locally from Africa; also a common captive in collections at ornamental lakes and waterparks. A distinctive, oddly patterned "goose" (really more closely related to shelducks) usually found in pairs or family groups. Feeds while swimming and by grazing on shore. Note the dark eye patch, buffy breast, and overall gray-and-brown body; white forewings striking in flight.
