Identification
Large slate-gray pigeon with glossy green iridescence (can be difficult to make out in poor light) on the back and wings. Also note staring yellow eyes, chestnut undertail coverts, and faint pale patch just above the bill. One of only a handful of forest birds on Christmas Island. Eats mostly fruit, often gathering in large numbers at fruiting trees or groves. Song consists of multiple deep purring coos.
