Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Drab, medium-sized flycatcher with a long slender bill. Endemic to the montane and submontane forests of Borneo. Look for a warm rufous tail, white throat, and pale underparts. Forays from a low perch in the understory or forest edge; otherwise generally unobtrusive and difficult to spot in dark understory. Vocalizations include a disjointed series with buzzy and scratchy notes. Formerly grouped with Sulu Jungle Flycatcher and Philippine Jungle Flycatcher under “Chestnut-tailed Jungle Flycatcher.”
