Plain gray plump songbird with a dark tail, white wingbar, and a small forward-curving crest. In flight, shows prominent pale tail tips. Bill short and chunky, darker in adult, paler in juvenile. Note range in western and central Australia. Essentially identical to Chirruping Wedgebill, except for its voice. Song a very loud, descending "why-did-you-get-drunk," which is repeated frequently.
