Identification
Speckled brown lark with a thick bill and a short tail. Bright white belly marked with clear dark chest streaking. Also note contrasting supercilium, which distinguishes this species from the browner, more weakly-marked Australasian Bushlark in narrow range of overlap. Found in open areas with scattered trees or bushes. Listen for the male’s whistled song, often given from a perch or in low flight. Calls include a high, thin “seep”.
