Uncommon thrush of humid evergreen and pine-evergreen forest in highlands. Feeds mainly in fruiting trees and bushes, often with other thrushes; rarely feeds on the ground. Striking male is black with a yellow bill, eyering, and legs. Female is brown overall with black bill and yellow legs. Immature male is darker than female, with yellow bill and legs. Other similar thrushes are larger and bulkier. Clay-colored occurs mainly in lowlands and has dull pinkish legs. Mountain Thrush has dark legs.
