Identification

A small and distinctive honeyeater that is primarily brown and white with strong black barring on the head and chest. Barring is less obvious in juvenile birds. Usually found in flowering trees near rivers or in swamps. Feeds on insects and nectar; usually quite inconspicuous. Endemic to northern Australia.
