Seabirding pelagic trip aboard the Stormy Petrel II, from the shelf break offshore to about 300 fathoms (1,800 feet) and back inshore to the break. We found a nice temperature and current edge offshore of the shelf and had good productivity out there! Also had 4 or more offshore Bottlenose Dolphins on this segment.

Photos - I had to really take another look at this one once I was home and had my photos downloaded. Looking at the pictures and studying snipe and dowitchers in flight, this bird shows a line of spots on the greater secondary coverts, plus the darker barred underwing, and feet close to even with the tail vs trailing. When I saw this bird initially I thought it was a snipe, and remember someone else saying that as well. It can be tough when we have these individuals out of context at sea!

Very conservative count. We had a number of birds feeding in the slick again this weekend, possibly due to lack of moonlight recently for feeding. There were up to 45 behind us at one time in the slick. We also had a number of birds come in on the bow.
