   Details

   Repeatedly tried to land on the pond, flew out of the bowl and then back to attempt another landing.

3. Royal Tern

   Number observed:  4

   Details

   Foraged over the two ponds in front of the building, frequently plunge diving. Field notes: medium to large terns with a orange bills, unmarked and with a slight gonydeal angle; short black crest off of the back of the head, forming part of a black band from the black eye; primaries variable dusky above and lighter below with a thin, black trailing edge; inner wings appeared light grey or white above (depending on angle) and white below; otherwise, the birds are white; medium-depth to swallowed tail.
   Almost constantly giving the "koorrrick" call.
   Checked for Elegant: head band too thin; crest too short; bill too orange and not drooped; wrong call. Checked for Caspain: bill not dark enough and not bulky enough; bird too small; wrong call; crown band too small.
