American Herring x Glaucous-winged Gull (hybrid)
Number observed: 3Details
Some immature birds present might have been this combination as well, though I couldn't get to 100% ID on those. The 3 adult birds had dark gray primaries, rather pale mantles (paler than most "Olympic" Glaucous-winged x Westerns and with slightly smaller bill [less gonydeal angle] than I would expect for that combination), yellow irises, and were larger overall with paler bubblegum pink legs and feet than the adult "Thayer's" Iceland Gulls present.

Details
Spotted paddling around pond In mixed flock of gulls (majority California). Compared to the California Gulls, was a very similar size and shape but with noticeably darker slate gray mantle, pale yellow iris with accumulation of dark streaking around it creating "mascara" appearance, and bright yellow legs and feet. Bird eventually took flight with a large number of the other gulls and headed north into the landfill. In flight the bird's underwing had much darker slate gray bases to primaries than the California Gulls around it.
