Checklist Comments

Beautiful day. No wind along the East Bluff Trail. I only saw 2 people during my visit. No wind, car, people or traffic noise. The only noisy part was walking up and back on the road to Steinke Basin - crushed stone road surface. I made numerous stops along the way to listen.

Walking back down to the Steinke Basin parking area I heard several loud deep and growly "gronk" calls, totally unlike AMCR. Unseen, but very well heard. Species known to occasionally be in this general area.

Heard familiar pip call notes 2x. I walked a bit further where I could see down below the trail. I scanned the trees and saw a robin shaped gray bird with white eyering perched atop a conifer. As I attempted to get my camera out it flew. I wasn't able to locate it again for a photo.
