Mixed Monterey Pine and Coastal Oak forest, 800 ft above sea level on a ridge above Carmel viewing south toward the Carmel River mouth. Observed at a birdfeeder on my deck with sunflower seeds. Larger than the black headed, more pronounced greenish beak. . Please note some photos seem to have a black band over the eye, this is a shadow. I have not observed the bird since. Thanks for your expert opinion . I was not able to hear any call. It appears to be a female or adolescent. I have a video as well that didn’t upload.
