Details
First noticed single bird flying over Lords Pond at 2:37pm; watched bird fly and land on mudflat near 208 and Mile Stretch, where s/he joined two other birds; large terns with solid black caps, black legs, and thick red bills; in the right light, the tips of their bills appeared a bit gray, not entirely red; the birds napped on the mudflat long enough for Bob Watson and Marian Zimmerman to arrive and view the birds through scopes; around 4pm, two of the birds headed south; I followed (by car) and found them circling over Etherington Pond; they then flew back toward the mudflat; when I left the area, they were together again on the mudflat.
