In 2009, following the completion of the last atlas, Paul Kreiss wrote this blockbusting advice. Blockbusting, or a ‘block party’, is intensive, targeted atlasing, usually by a group, of an underatlased block.
Both Black-capped and Carolina Chickadees occur in Maryland, but despite the state’s relatively small geographic area, each species’ distribution is sharply demarcated and there is little overlap between the two species.
