  • Have you seen any colour-banded gulls or terns?

    As the long, hot dry summer gives way to autumn and winter over the next few months, New Zealand eBirders are encouraged to keep an eye out for colour-banded black-billed gulls and black-fronted terns when out birding in their local ‘patch’.

  • Great Backyard Bird Count 2016!

    February 12-15 (Friday through Monday) is the 19th annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). To participate, just go birding during this timeframe and make sure to enter your checklists in eBird.

In order to qualify as the first eBirder of the month in 2016, all you have to do is submit an average of one qualifying eBird checklist for each day in January.

    Android users rejoice! eBird Mobile is now available for free in the Google Play store, complementing the iOS version of the app that was released earlier this year.

As announced in early November, we are ecstatic to have our Media Upload tool available across eBird—a partnership with the Macaulay Library that now allows you to drag-and-drop your media right into any eBird checklist, archiving it in Macaulay.
