    Details

Landed right in front of me on the fencing for a small community garden plot near the bathroom. Pretty sure it is a Traills - not a peewee because of the low crest, super orange mandible, meh wing extension and lack of chevrons on UTC. Not a least due to tail thickness and length, eye ring shape and color and beak shape. Not rarer empids due to color, wing-bar and eye-ring combo, I think. Due to location I think it should be a willow, but didn't talk that I heard. No tail or wing licking. Sat in this position or a lower one after catching prey.

Really not expecting this! First took interest in the bird when I saw the tail-tip flash white in flight. Flew up from the upland wetlands area when a cyclist passed by, into the large cottonwood near the start of the trail into the woods. Had unique facial pattern with high contrast chestnut cheek patch. Lost it in the foliage of a cottonwood .Photos. (40.653992, -74.020073)
