Smallish sparrow with large pale bill. Face olive with dark spot behind eye, auricular area outlined by discontinuous line. Complete white eye ring. Dark crown with paler central strip. Throat white with thin dark edging. Back neatly patterned with dark feathers outlined with pale edges. Rufous feathers on tertials and tail. Dark, fine streaks on breast and flanks; flanks and breast buffy, belly white.
